Visitors must arrive no sooner than 15 minutes prior to your appointment. No more than two adults can visit an inmate at one time under normal circumstances. Visits could be interrupted at any time in case of an emergency.
Attorneys and other official visitors may visit at any time. Inmates may refuse to see any visitor. A visitor may visit an unlimited number of times on the visitation day and times designated, but may visit only once with the same inmate.
Contact Visits
Under usual circumstances the only contact visits allowed are attorney visits, which are limited to the booths that allows the passing of documents. NO PHYSICAL CONTACT IS ALLOWED!
Jail Visitation Rules
All visitors, 17 years of age and older, must present a valid photo identification to the Visitation Officer. Examples are driver's license, state-issued identification card, passport, or military identification. Any other identification must be approved by the Jail Shift Supervisor.
A photo identification is required.
All visitors are required to give their full name, date of birth, and address prior to visiting an inmate.
- Persons under 17 years of age are not allowed to visit inmates unless accompanied by an adult.
- Inmate visits are limited to two 20 minutes visits per day.
- No personal items, food items or containers will be allowed beyond the entrance hallway. Lockers are provided in some locations.
- Visitors are required to pass through a metal detector and may be subject to physical searches.
- Visitors cannot give any items directly to inmates.
- Visitors’ clothing will be conservative in nature.

Attorney Visits
Attorney Visits may be conducted at the jail facilities face to face or they may be conducted off site through Video Visitation.
Rules for Off Site Attorney/Client Video Visitation
General Rules:
- Participation in video visitation is a privilege, not a right.
- Official attorney visits are not recorded and the conversations are not monitored.
- Attorneys may allow others (e.g., private investigators or aides) to visit on their behalf, using the attorney’s Securus account.
- Attorney Visits are solely for confidential and privileged information.
- Denton County Sheriff’s Office reserves the right to deny, cancel or terminate a video visit prior to or during a video session based upon attorney or inmate misconduct.
- Visitation is a voluntary event; the Denton County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) will not compel an inmate to participate in a visit
Scheduling & Availability:
- Attorney/Client video visitation is available in all housing areas.
- All attorney visits must be scheduled at least six (6) hours in advance. Visits should not be scheduled to occur more than seven (7) days in the future.
- Video visits are scheduled in 20 minute blocks, and a scheduled attorney visit may not exceed 40 minutes per inmate daily.

Registration:
At the time of registration, an attorney must be prepared to provide the following information:
- Attorney’s Bar Card
- Attorney’s official picture ID (i.e., driver’s license)
- Attorney’s home or business address
- Attorney’s telephone contact number
- Attorney’s e-mail address
